Kelly Gadke’s Testimony
I count it an honor and privilege to even have a testimony
to share!
Over the course of about fifteen years, I managed to gain seventy pounds.
I was miserable to say the least. I tried every diet known to mankind!
I recall standing up in one diet meeting and saying: "This is too hard.
I cannot count another fat gram or keep track of any more optional calories.
I just can’t do it." I remember asking God to show me what HE wanted
me to do. I had sought counsel from others at church to no avail.
Then, the Weigh Down Workshop was introduced to the congregation. I
didn’t attend that first twelve weeks. I just sat back in the pew and watched...week
after week...those that were in the class began to look so different to me.
It wasn’t the weight. Their faces were so different. They actually
looked happy! I could see before my very own eyes that they were being
transformed! I wanted what they had. I was miserable, angry, bitter,
self-focused, jealous, envious, pridefu,l and seeking man’s praise (and I was
fat!). I started to play this little game (in my head). If I noticed
a difference in one of the ladies in the congregation, like they seemed happier,
more radiant, less self-focused, I would find out if they were indeed in
the Weigh Down class. Do you know that 100% of the time I was right!!!!
I knew something was up! So when the second session was offered, I signed up.
WOW...ever since the orientation video I knew that this was going to be big!
From that day on, I realized that if I had been lied to about diets, what
else on earth did I believe that was a lie? Early on in Weigh Down,
we are instructed to write down blessings that we will reap by turning to
God. The number one blessing I wrote down was: Knowing and believing
THE TRUTH! That would later serve to be the biggest blessing in my life!
I lost my weight very quickly. I knew that I HAD to be obedient to the
God that made me. Weigh Down taught me how to do this.
I’ve been blessed beyond belief through the teachings of the Weigh Down Workshop.
Not only did God remove seventy pounds from me, He removed five more pounds to
date - seventy-five pounds - and its been off for over three years! I am truly experiencing
happiness, joyfulness, and a light-hearted lifestyle that Jesus talks about.
My marriage is sweeter and blessed and our children are shining bright for
our God and our Savior Jesus Christ.
Thank you Gwen Shamblin and the Weigh Down Workshop for teaching me how to
live!!!!
